Cedar Rapids

Wisconsin small town insurance saleman/nerd is sent to the annual Insurance Convention in Cedar Rapids to vie for a coveted award. Unfortunately he is roomed with partyman Charles C. Riley, who is hysterical, and soon he finds himself doing the nasty, smoking pot, drinking and snorting. Great supporting cast with Anne Hecht and Singorny Weaver. Starts slow but Riley livens things up quickly. 3 bananas

Lincoln Lawyer

Great adaptation of Michael Connelly's book. Lawyer Mathew McConaughey whose office is his car, who usually defends dirt bags is called upon to defend a high profile defendant that has a lot more baggage than he bargained for. Well done murder mystery which also stars Marisa Tomei. 3 bananas

Paul

ET with a trash mouth. This alien adventure centers around Paul, the alien, escaping from his government captors and hitching a ride with two Brits who are touring the U.S. in a recreation vehicle. The Feds, a couple of rednecks and the father of a woman, who joins the Brits, are all in pursuit. A couple of funny scenes but pretty stupid. Definitely not for kids. 1/1/2 bananas

Limitless

This is a FUN movie!! Entertaining, fast moving, totally illogical but who cares, it's enjoyable. A down and out writer comes across a pill that has super intelligent powers and he becomes the talk of wall street but not without some baddies after him due to his seemingly reincarnation. DeNiro plays a minor role. Bored, go see this!! 3 bananas

Battle: LA

If you like sci-fi shootem ups, this isn't bad. Some kind of alien invasion begins and the US Military decides that L.A. will be where the battle is won or lost.The whole movie is blowing up squisey aliens. Only good part is that the West Coast is pretty much destroyed. 1 1/2 bananas

Adjustment Bureau

Matt Damon and Emily Blunt star in this quirky movie that blends, mystery, religion, some comedy and drama into an entertaining 2 hours. The premise of the movie is that your life has already been decide and there are ways to keep you on that path. Damon and Blunt are suppose to meet once in their life; however upon that one meeting they defy the paths set forward for them and higher authorities are bent on correcting their mistake. Ending leaves a little bit to be desired but getting to it is a kick. 3 bananas

For a film that was panned by the critics I think this is a pretty damn good movie. Liam Neeson stars in this thriller as a man who loses his memory when his cab goes into a river; Upon awakening he finds that he isn't who he thought he was and people are trying to kill him. A good fast plot with an ending I didn't see coming. 3 bananas

The Mechanic

Another shoot-em up as Jason Strathorn is recruited to eliminate his boss and friend only to find after that he was duped. Revenge is sweet as he sets out to wreck haoc on the CIA with the help of his dead friends son. Good action movie for a slow cold day. 2 1/2 bananas

Just Go With It!

Very funny starring Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler. Sandler is a plastic surgeon who has discovered that to get the best poontang, it pays to wear a wedding ring though he's not married. Complications arise when he finds the"love of his life" but she thinks he's married. Anniston who is Sandlers assistant is recruited as he supposedly divorced wife to set the matter straight. Funny scene after funny scene. 3 bananas.

Animal Kingdom

Well done but erie Australian Indie drama centers around 17 year old, who's mother dies from an over dose, and he is brought into the fold of a family of thieves and murderers ruled by Mama. Slowly he is sucked into their world as events go from bad to worse. Could be the best foreign film of 2010. Sometimes hard to understand the Aussie talk but you'll manage. 3 1/2 bananas
